Heuristic Rules For Job Shop Scheduling Essay - 1408 Words
CHAPTER 3 HEURISTIC RULES FOR JOB SHOP SCHEDULING 3.1 Introduction The considered intention in this chapter is finding out the best solution for job shop scheduling problems based on heuristic rules solution, taking into account different measurable performance criteria for the same solution. The objective is achieved by trying to obtain the best sequence of jobs to be processed on machines. 3.2 Methodology The general framework of the scheduling, which is considered in this project and the methodology followed to examine some heuristic rules for job shop scheduling problem which are described in detail in this chapter. The heuristic rules are proposed and tested in their scheduled performances in benchmark problems. In order to solve these problems, we try to use LEKIN-Flexible Job-Shop Scheduling System to obtain the best results. The procedure that will be followed by the proposed LEKIN software for solving the JSSP is presented in Fig. 3.1. A comparison between the results of the considered cases will be made to see the influence of weight on the scheduling process. The choice of a schedule is governed by the criteria used to evaluate it. 3.3 Problem Statement A brief description of a job shop scheduling problem has already been provided in Chapter 1. In this project, the size of the considered problem is JÃâ"M, where J represents the number of jobs (5) and M represents the number of machines (5). Four rules will be tested on a data set consists of twenty caseShow MoreRelatedThe Machine Time Span1254 Words à |à 6 Pagespotential re-scheduling. Instances of the job shop problem (10x10, 8x15, 5x10, 10x 15, 5x15, 5x20, 6x24, 10x20,) are considered. Two machines can influence the decision variables. Several cases with different values of this parameter are studied. The different simulations tested in this research consider various times of these three machines. From the above two method the obtained sequence times are less than the observation time span. Both method has reduce the time span of job shop but Guptaââ¬â¢s heuristicRead MoreNew Crossover Operator Based On The Machine And Mutation Operator1486 Words à |à 6 PagesAbstract - To solve the job shop scheduling problem more effectively, some genetic operators were designed. In order to increase the diversity of the population, a mixed selection operator based on the fitness value and the concentration value was given. To make full use of the characteristics of the problem itself, new crossover operator based on the machine and mutation operator based on the critical path were specifically designed. To find the critical path, a new algorithm to find the criticalRead MoreIntroduction Of Manufacturing Scheduling Process Essay1836 Words à |à 8 Pagesâ⬠2 Introduction Introduction to manufacturing scheduling In the real world, it is necessary for any manufacturing system, production system, even service system to create an effective schedule able to overcome any change that may happen in the environment in order to continue in the competitive world. Scheduling can be denoted as the process of assigning a set of activities to resources of finite capacity over limited time. Scheduling process aims to sequence the activities and states their releasingRead MoreThe Distinctive and Common Qualitiesof Job Shops and Flow Shops3762 Words à |à 16 Pagessimilarities and differences between job shops and flow shops as well as advise with regard to facility layout. The selection of a job shop or flow shop layout should be made based upon the properties and characteristics the manufacturers desire to have in place for producing their products. These considerations will ultimately result in cost-saving measures as well as increases in overall efficiency. I. However, for complicated situation there are techniques which are naturally applicable. In Brazil, the motivation for the work is a long single track railroad catering for trains which are used to transport iron ore in both directions. The track is divided into a number of track sections, with each track section linking two stations. Additional track is assumed to be available at the stations for trains to stop or overtake one another.
